Adwords - Instant Traffic
But to turn it into money is more difficult
The Internet is a huge place - millions of people use it every single day of their lives - as entertainment, for research, to buy goods and services. Of course there is also an awful lot of money to be made as well - traditional advertising is becoming more and more secondary to the Internet and one name stands out controlling peoples experience on the web - Google.
Whatever you think about Google as a company - it's power over our web experience is simply withough parallel. To "google" has become a verb in it's own right - to search for information on the Internet. But Google is a money making company and needs to earn revenue from it's position and technology. One of the primary fee earners for Google is of course advertisement revenue.
If you've ever searched for anything in Google you have seen these advertisements - the little sponsored ads all around your search ads. THe main difference between conventional advertisements is that these are highly targetted. These adverts only appear when the specific words are typed into Google - and the advertisers only pay when the ads are clicked - hence Pay Per Click (PPC). No other form of advertising can be targetted so accurately which is why it is possible to make an awful lot of money using Adwords.
Who can use Adwords ?
Just about anyone - if you go to www.google.com/ads you can sign up right away and be showing ads within the hour. The potential audience is massive so you can easily divert lots of traffic to your chosen website. However this is why you must be careful - these advertisements can generate lots of clicks and costs you lots of money.
Fortunately the adwords interface is easy to use and it's quite simple to specify limits. If you're learning it's essential you use these limits until you have some experience in the system.
But I don't have anything to sell ?
Nope but lots of other people do - lots of people who are willing to pay for customers. The people who introduce these customers are called affliates and many operate purely by using Adwords to send traffic to specific merchants who pay them a commission. This of course might sound like easy money but in fact it is not - lots of people browse but only a few of those people buy. Remember everytime you click on one of those adverts somebody is paying Google a fixed amount (anything from a few pennies to several pounds!) -- do you buy something everytime you visit one of these links - nope nor do I.
Of course it should be obvious now that the trcik is to find a balance of where your advertising costs are lower than the commission you earn on a sale.
Lets take a very simple example by way of illustration -
I pay 30p per click for my advert which is advertising a new Television on an electrical retailers site. The TV costs £600 pounds and if someone buys one I will earn £20 in commission. Some simple maths will tell me if that more than one in sixty six people buy a television I will make a profit - but only just. Of course if one in twenty buy a TV - my advertising costs will be £6 (20x30p) and I'll make £14 profit.
It really does sound easy and this is exactly what the Ebooks tell you - if you do find a profitable product - you don't need to do much more. However what they don't tell you that the really hard bit is finding that combination - absolutely all the other stuff is available for free on the net - you can learn everything about adwords from the adwords site !!
